Aim: Reduce number of health cases leading to reduced milk output and higher emissions per kg FPCM
Action on farm:
a. Lameness – determine whether farm has a significant issue. If so, vet to undertake Healthy Feet Programme
b. Mastitis – determine whether farm has a significant issue. If so, MCP trained deliverer to undertake Mastitis Control Plan
c. Youngstock – determine if significant calf losses. Discuss protocols with vet, nutritionist, consultant. Could offer refractometer, scour diagnostic kits, housing assessment, calf weigh tapes dependent on budget.
d. Endemic Disease – determine whether farm is performing bulk milk sampling for relevant diseases. Discuss protocols with vet.
